On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of China Translation and Publishing Corporation, I¡¯d like to express my heartfelt congratulations and sincere greetings to you from the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York.
China Translation and Publishing Corporation was established a quarter of a century ago when China successfully restored its lawful seat in the United Nations. At that time, your corporation undertook the great responsibility of translating the Chinese documents that remained untranslated since the establishment of the United Nations, and gradually took on the task of translating current documents.
Your corporation has a translating team with strong professional capability, which is constantly striving for perfection. It not only renders high-quality services to the Headquarters of the United Nations and Geneva, Vienna, Nairobi and other conference services departments under the Department of General Assembly Affairs and Conference Services, but also provides translation service to such United Nations organization as UNDP, UNESCO, UNIDO, FAQ, World Bank, IMF, IMO, ILO, UNHCR and UNICEF. In 1995, your corporation undertook the task of the translation, printing and binding of two blue books: The United Nations and Cambodia and The United Nations and the Advancement of Women, an important document of the Fourth World Conference on Women. For the 30 years, your corporation has made special contributions to this unique international organization, and gained due confidence from the United Nations.
In China¡¯s powerful current of reform and opening-up, your corporation is also experiencing significant changes, with your business scope expanding from translation to publishing and printing. Now the management level of your corporation has undergone some changes, but I firmly believe that the long and fruitful cooperative relationship established between the UN and your corporation by your former general managers Wang Xinshan and Xu Jihong and their associates will be carried forward in the future.
I sincerely hope that China Translation and Publishing Corporation will flourish and proper with each passing day.
