The  first translation institution established in the country, China  Translation and  Publishing Corporation  (CTPC)   is   proud   of   its   over   30   years’  experience   in   translation  and interpretation service provision, its well-deserved reputation for quality and excellence, and its seasoned in-house professionals and freelancers in various disciplinary specialties. With its own growth   witnessing  the   opening-up  of the country and the globalization process of the world, the company is now one of the major players in China’s language industry.
When  it  was  founded  in  the  early  1970s,  the  company’s  mandate was to translate the backlog UN documents into Chinese as China restored its legal status in the United Nations. Later, it extended translation and interpretation service to various international organizations, Chinese government organs, foreign  embassies  and  representative  offices in China, and then, businesses  and  individuals, which take an ever-increasing share of the company’s business portfolio since China’s opening-up and all the more so since the country’s entry into  WTO.  In  recent  years, the  growing  demand of website  and product  localization has brought  new  market  opportunities  to CTPC,  and  the  company has thus taken the lead to develop  and optimize  the  project  management  process  for such business, gained  some experience in using the latest CAT technologies  and  software,  and  recruited  a  batch   of technical staff to meet the new challenge. So far, CTPC  has  been  engaged  in all types of business in Chinese language industry, including translation, interpretation and exposition, website  and  product  localization,  other multilingual language services as well as various customized language training programs.

Our books and publications
Apart   from   our   provision   of  language   services, CTPC’s  long-standing  reputation  for excellence  has   also been earned through its ceaseless efforts in publishing quality books and publications, especially in the field of translation, including books on translation theories, translated works as well as translation-oriented dictionaries and reference books.
With its incomparable expertise and experience in Chinese-related language services, CTPC has  been  authorized  by  various  international organizations to translate and distribute their publications  from  shortly  after  its inception in the 1970s. Production of such publications is still a major part of CTPC’s publishing business, and the latest published include History of Civilization   of  Central  Asia  and  Copyrights  and  Neighboring   Rights   of   the   UNESCO, Development,  Trade  and  the  WTO  of the World Bank and Fighting Corruption in East Asia: Solutions from the Private Sector and Confronting Aids of UNDP. Later, CTPC broadened its scope  of  publishing  to  include  bilingual  books,   foreign  language   dictionaries,  guided readings for foreign language study, works on translation theories, and specialized works on history, economy, trade, social sciences and  literature.  Enjoying  a  huge stock of language resources and a crew of experienced translators and lexicographers, CTPC has produced a variety of dictionaries and manuals specially designed for translators, such as Names of the World’s Peoples: A Comprehensive Dictionary of Names in Roman-Chinese, Directory  of International   Organizations,  World Political Handbook and Directory  of  UN  Organs  and  Related  International   Organizations . And it  has been  among the first in China to edit and publish bilingual reading series, with some of the recognizable  titles very  popular  among learners of foreign languages for the past several decades: One Hundred Series, Translated Books  in Series Commented by Noted Masters, Translated Books on  Famous  Dramas  by Ying Ruocheng and Aesop’s Fables.
