2022年4月20日，适逢“联合国中文日”，联合国驻华系统最高代表、联合国驻华协调员常启德（Siddharth Chatterjee）先生致信中国对外翻译有限公司，并支持“中译国际青年人才杯”国际组织文件翻译大赛（简称：“中译国青杯”大赛）举办！

常启德先生向“中译国青杯”大赛的主办方——中国对外翻译有限公司（简称“中译公司”）发来视频贺词并致以诚挚祝愿。他表示，希望通过“中译国青杯”大赛的举办，选拔出一批具备国际视野、朝气蓬勃的优秀青年翻译人才，鼓励其在未来贡献力量，推动实现联合国可持续发展目标，促进国际合作。
常启德先生在贺词中指出，联合国中文日是促进相互理解、宽容和对话的又一重要桥梁。中国作为联合国重要会员国，积极推进2030年可持续发展议程，在维护和平与安全、促进发展和保护人权方面发挥了重要作用。为实现可持续发展目标“行动十年”，不让任何人掉队，世界需要听到中文世界的声音。
他提出，希望借此次“中译国青杯”国际组织文件翻译大赛，呼吁所有志在多边领域的青年语言工作者发挥才能，运用专业技能促进全球和平与发展，为建立一个更加包容和可持续的未来，提出新的解决方案。

Greetings. My name is Siddharth Chatterjee, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in China.

I wish to thank the China Translation Corporation for the invitation to address the China Translation Corporation Youth Cup for International Organization Document Translation Competition.
欣闻本届“中译国青杯”国际组织文件翻译大赛举办在即，我想对赛事主办方中国对外翻译有限公司致以诚挚的祝愿。
Today marks United Nations Chinese Language Day, in recognition of the start of the Grain Rain.
今天是联合国中文日，适逢中国农历谷雨节气。
Language Days at the United Nations seek to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity, while promoting equal use of each one of the Organization's six official languages.
联合国设立语言日，意在增进多种语言的使用，丰富文化多样性，促进联合国六种官方语言的平等使用。
As noted by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, "Multilingualism is a core value of the United Nations. Multilingualism helps guarantee the effectiveness of our multilateral system."

The United Nations Chinese Language Day serves as another crucial bridge toward further mutual understanding, tolerance, and dialogue.

Ensuring that the voices of the Chinese language speaking world are heard is critical in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in this Decade of Action and leave no one behind.

China, as a key Member State, has an important role to play, to uphold the values of peace and security, development, and human rights by following the principles of the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights while implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
中国作为联合国重要会员国，遵守《联合国宪章》和《世界人权宣言》的各项原则，积极推进2030年可持续发展议程，在维护和平与安全、促进发展和保护人权方面发挥了重要作用。
Addressing our global challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, conflicts, and rising inequalities, requires collaboration and cooperation from the entire community of nations, including China.
面对新冠疫情、气候变化、冲突和不断加剧的不平等现象，国际社会当同心协力，中国自然也责无旁贷。
The United Nations in China is continuing to assist the partnership between China and developing countries, to leverage upon the lessons learned from China's socio-economic progress over the past decades and bring them to bear for the benefit of the developing world, through supporting efforts such as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the newly proposed Global Development Initiative.
联合国驻华系统始终致力于促进中国与其他发展中国家的伙伴关系，通过支持中非合作论坛、中国最新提出的全球发展倡议等一举措，利用过去数十年间，中国社会经济快速发展的宝贵经验，造福其他发展中国家。
Sharing these vital experiences between nations in areas such as poverty alleviation and food security while accelerating global progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals will take the expertise and intellect of those who work as editors, interpreters, and translators across a spectrum of international organizations, including at the United Nations.
各国分享减贫和粮食安全等领域的重要经验，加快实现可持续发展目标，都离不开在联合国等国际组织工作的编辑人员、口译员和笔译员的专业知识与智慧。
I want to take this opportunity on Chinese Language Day and at the China Translation Corporation Youth Cup, to call for the action of all young language professionals who aspire to work in the multilateral space, to play their part and help facilitate new solutions by using their unique skills to support global peace and development for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
恰逢联合国中文日，我希望借此次“中译国青杯”国际组织文件翻译大赛，呼吁所有志在多边领域的青年语言工作者发挥才能，运用专业技能促进全球和平与发展，为建立一个更加包容和可持续的未来，提出新的解决方案。
The Grain Rain is the last solar term of spring, when ample rain will hopefully fall and nurture our crops.
在中国，谷雨是春天的最后一个节气，此时雨量丰沛，万物茁壮生长。
I similarly hope that the China Translation Corporation Youth Cup will see a group of exceptional young translators rise with vigour, passion, and global vision. I look forward to seeing their efforts to advance the Sustainable Development Goals and international cooperation.
在这个特别的时节，我希望，通过“中译国青杯”大赛的举办，可以选拔出一批具备国际视野、朝气蓬勃的优秀青年翻译人才，在未来贡献力量，推动实现联合国可持续发展目标，促进国际合作。

2010年，联合国宣布启动“联合国语言日”，旨在庆贺多种语文的使用和文化多样性，并促进六种官方语言在联合国的平等使用。
2010年4月20日，恰逢中国农历二十四节气之谷雨，在经过国内的专家论证后，中国常驻联合国代表团向联合国建议，将中文日定在谷雨这一天，以纪念仓颉造字的贡献和中国文字的诞生。
此后，每年的4月20日便成为了“联合国中文日”。
